Privacy statement
This statement covers schaalstudio.com and schaalstudio.nl. It describes what the site does with information about you, and nothing more.
Who is responsible
SchaalStudio is responsible for the details described here.
For anything about your details, including privacy requests, email info@schaalstudio.com.
The contact form
The form asks for your name, your email address and your message. It also records which button brought you to the form: a quote, a pilot drawing or a general question.
When you press send, these details are sent by email to the studio's own inbox, which is run by the studio's email provider. The enquiry is kept in that inbox. There is no database, no account and no file upload.
Each enquiry carries a random submission id in the email subject, so a message that arrives twice can be recognised as a duplicate.
To slow down abuse, the server counts sends per network (IP) address for ten minutes. That count lives only in the server's memory and is never written anywhere. It is a best-effort limit: each server instance keeps its own count, and the count starts again when the server restarts.
Your draft
While you type, the form keeps a copy of your draft in your browser's session storage, so it survives a switch between English and Dutch. The draft stays on your device and goes nowhere until you press send. It is removed when the enquiry is sent, when you discard it, or when you close the tab.
Why we use your details
We use your details only to answer your enquiry.
Lawful basis: we process your details because you asked us to respond, as a step before a possible agreement (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
How long we keep them
We keep enquiry emails for up to two years after our last contact, then delete them.
Where they are stored
Enquiries are stored by the email provider that runs the studio mailbox, on servers in the United States. This transfer is covered by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses in the provider's data processing agreement.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel keeps server logs with request details such as the time, the page requested, the network address and the browser type. The contents of your enquiry are not written to those logs.
Visitor statistics
The site counts visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which according to Vercel's documentation records the page, referrer, country, browser, operating system and device type without cookies, recognising a visitor only by a hash of the request that is discarded after 24 hours. Enquiry contents are never sent to it.
Cookies and browser storage
The site sets one cookie: NEXT_LOCALE. It holds a language (en or nl), so the site keeps showing the language you chose. It is set on the first page you open, updated when you switch language, and then follows the language you view. It is a session cookie: your browser deletes it when you close the browser. It is used for nothing else.
Your browser's local storage keeps one item, schaal-theme, once you use the light and dark switch; it remembers that choice on this device.
Your browser's session storage keeps your form draft (schaalstudio.contact.draft.v1) and, just after a language switch, a note to return focus to the form (schaalstudio.contact.focus). Both disappear when you close the tab.
There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold about you, or object to its use. Email info@schaalstudio.com and we will look up your enquiry in the mailbox and reply.
You can also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
